1. Administrative Salaries
In the 1948/49 Budget under Head 5, Development
Secretariat; section a, Directorate and section b, Agri-
culture, salaries and wages were approved for some of the Market staff whilst their C.L.A. was charged under Head 20,
sub-head 21.
We are informed by the Treasury that the follow-
ing payments were made for 1948/49 :-

No provision has been made in these accounts for
these salaries and wages as we are informed that no charge
on the Market will be raised since they have been treated
as a general charge on the colony's revenue together with
the Agricultural Department's vote.

Petrol and 011 $82,968.29
No Government duty has been paid in respect of
petrol and oil consumed by the market. We understand that
there is a contingent liability in respect of this duty
